The literature of the Palestinian and Lebanese Australian diaspora spans over seven decades and represents a critically acclaimed and award-winning body of prose, poetry and nonfiction. Together, this ever-expanding literary canon delves into themes of home, belonging, displacement, tragedy, joy and love.

The 8th of October 2023 will forever be remembered as the beginning of a horrific Israeli-led campaign against the people of Palestine, and subsequently the people of Lebanon, which international legal scholars and human rights organisations have identified as genocide and crimes against humanity. Amidst the ongoing atrocities and human rights violations committed in the Palestinian territories and against their neighbouring allies, Sweatshop Literacy Movement recognises the significance of an evolving body of writing from the Palestinian and Lebanese Australian diaspora. In bringing together this transformative corpus, Sweatshop aims to highlight and celebrate the multifaceted experiences of contemporary Arab-Australian life.

As part of the global non-violent resistance movements for a free Palestine, you are invited to explore and invest in this urgent and necessary catalogue of texts.
