Sweatshop unites with ACON for queer anthology

Sweatshop has partnered with ACON on the inaugural Stories Out West mentorship program. Stories Out West is an extraordinary opportunity for writers from Greater Western Sydney who are culturally, linguistically and ethnically diverse and are part of the LGBTQ+ community.

ACON and Sweatshop will publish a printed anthology of work from writers who are responding to their experiences of being LGBTQ+SB First Nations or LGBTQ+ and culturally, linguistically and ethnically diverse, with a connection to GWS. Selected writers will participate in a mentorship program with five weekly workshops to connect with each other and develop their work under the mentorship of Sweatshop writers, Winnie Dunn and Adrian Mouhajer.

The successful recipients include: Andrew Lac (he/him), Gary Paramanathan (he/him), Jenny Nguyen (she/her), Keith Quayle (he/him), Lei Tan (he/him), Marel Parono (he/him), Mark Villar (he/him), Nadia Demas (she/her), Omar (he/him), Gatsby (he/him), Sarah (she/they), and Tooba Anwar (they/them)!

The anthology will be launched during Sydney World Pride 2023 in a public free event. Visit ACON to find out more.
