UQP acquires Natalia Figueroa Barroso's debut novel

Sweatshop Writer, Natalia Figueroa Barroso, has signed with award-winning publisher, University of Queensland Press (UQP) to release her debut work of fiction, titled Hailstones Fell Without Rain.

In early 2025, this breathtaking new book will be making history as Australia's first mainstream novel by an author of Uruguayan descent. Congratulations, Natalia!

This incredible news sits among Sweatshop's trail-blazing collective of diverse women who are currently taking Australian literature by storm, including debut and forthcoming authors, Amani Haydar, Shirley Le, Sara Saleh and Winnie Dunn, as well the 2023 Miles Franklin winner, Shankari Chandran.
