Anne-Marie Te Whiu
Anne-Marie Te Whiu (belonging to the Te Rarawa iwi of the Hokianga, Aotearoa) is an Australian-Māori writer, editor, weaver, cultural producer, and festival director. Between 2015-2017 she co-directed the Queensland Poetry Festival. She has edited More Than These Bones by Bebe Backhouse, Whisper Songs by Tony Birch and co-editor of Solid Air Australia & New Zealand Spoken Word. She is currently an Associate Producer for Contemporary HUM. In 2021 she received a Next Chapter Fellowship by The Wheeler Centre and was mentored by Natalie Harkin. Ani has been the recipient of the Wollongong Botanical Gardens Writers Residency, the Unyoked Writers Residency, and a Running Dog Writer’s Residency. She is founder and lead producer of the Fair Trade project at Red Room Poetry which platforms and celebrates domestic and international Indigenous poetic collaboration. Ani is currently co-producer of the Literature Program of the Aotearoa NZ Festival of the Arts to happen in Wellington, February 2024. Her writing has been published widely across Australia and New Zealand and soon, her debut poetry collection, Mettle, will be published by University of Queensland Press.
