Emma Hicks
Dr Emma Hicks is a Sydney based artist, writer and educator of Gamilaroi and European heritage. As a contemporary artist Emma has exhibited both nationally and internationally working across film, installation and performance.
She holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Bachelor of Visual Arts (first class honours) from Sydney college of the Arts (University of Sydney), Advanced Diploma of Graphic Design and a Diploma of Fine Arts and was the recipient of Dr Charles Perkins AO memorial prize at the University of Sydney in 2013.
Emma’s current roles include Senior Coordinator for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander learning programs at The Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA), freelance graphic designer, an Arts and Cultural development officer for Northern Beaches Council and a practicing artist.
Emma is a founding member of FLENK Collective which provides consultation and strategic creative development of education and audience engagement programming for the arts & culture sector and a current peer assessor for Australia Council for the Arts, and a strong advocate for best practice having recently served on the Board of Directors for Arts Law (Australia).
